Production by state

Sunraysia produces the largest volumes of almonds followed by the Riverland. However, the Riverina is emerging as an engine room of the industry with the highest percentage of new plantings and will soon be the second biggest contributor to the national crop.

The Australian almond industry grow three main varieties: Nonpariel, Carmel, Monterey and Price.

Hectares planted

In the past 20 years, the Australian almond industry has grown significantly. From plantings of 3,546 hectares in 2000, production has grown to over 60,000 hectares in 2021 and heading toward 75,000 by the end of the decade.
